I think we all do. I used to store silica gel packets in them for diving
trips. I put one in the housing, and one in a bag with a couple rolls of
film. Worked great.
I think the plastic ones are probably water tight also, especially those
semi-clear ones made by companies other than Kodak. Just as a matter of
interest, our primary photo store saves those for folks like us who like
the little critters since we can see what's inside.
In the olden days, there was a rumor that if you didn't put film rolls
(35mm and roll film) inside another container, they could be exposed on the
edges and/or ends by sunlight. I think that was true then.
