I've bought very little new equipment over the years, preferring to let someone else take the hit on initial depreciation. 

I'd say the oldest items I own that I purchased new from a store would be a two-reel nikor tank and a "tele-true" dial thermometer that were bought at the same time around 1958.  The nikor tank stil looks like new, and the thermometer still seems to be accurate within a half-degree or so.

I believe that up in the attic (I'm not going up there to find out) There is a bag of the old kodak metal film cans. as I remember, they came in differerent color combinations indicative of what variety of film they originally held. Some were plain aluminum, but others were yellow with either red or blue tops.
