Take the back off as if you were going to load a roll of film - that shiny
thingie with the recess and slots where the film spool protrusion fits into
is the battery cap. Here's hoping you don't find a corroded mess from a long
dead mercury battery in there. The corrosion can eat away the wires going to
the CdS cell, among other evils.

I've downloaded an abbreviated manual from the Web - I'll have to find the
URL.
