Hello Austin,
Yes, I have one of the new FX straps from Rollei. I have some of =
the old scissor straps with bad leather. It is easily replaced, of =
course, but what concerned me were the scissor clips themselves. I =
didn't feel like betting my 3.5F on a pair of 40+ year old clips. The =
new FX strap and scissor clips seems in most respects the same as the =
old units; I can't see any difference in the scissor clips themselves, =
but the leather seems rough and of a somewhat lower quality than that =
supplied with the original early Rolleiflexes. Also, it is black rather =
than the original brown. And, of course, it is overpriced.
For my money, the ideal strap would be a set of the new FX clips =
mated to a good quality strip of horse rein. Maybe one of these days =
I'll try that!
BTW, don't forget another weak link on the Rolleis are the hangers =
upon which the scissor clips lock. These are held in by two small =
screws (on each side) which have an amazing propensity to unscrew =
themselves. Take a small jewelers screwdriver, remove and lock-tite =
them when you put them back in.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Greg

Hi Austin!=20
No. It's bidding frenzy. I looked at the bid history. Two =
bidders with=20
not too much feedback. I've been there. And yes, several years ago I =
paid as much for one. Only fools grow wise, if ever, the wise are =
there already.=20
In another auction, a Seal 160 drypress, went for $650+, rather =
high for these.=20
The same in the bid history, two inexperineced bidders bidding up the =
price.=20
