Jerry,
Have you had the camera checked with a collimator? Even a CLA does not
include this. It could be the viewing and taking lenses are slightly out of
alignment. One other point. Check to see if the spacing is even all around
the twin lens mounting as it moves in and out. It is is more on one side
then the other it needs to be adjusted and this too could be your problem.
Last, there was a late model 3.5f than had the reformulated 6-element
Planar. This was suppose to be an improvement on the design. If all the
elements went together as they should you should have not problem with
sharpness. But during the various CLAs who knows if they were ever tampered
with. I would tend to think this the least possible cause so I would check
out the 1st two items.
