Re: [Rollei] Rollei 35S and Yashica T4 comparison?

Mark,

Two years ago I owned a T-4 with a Tessar lens and I feel that it is a great
camera. I sold it and eventually procured a Rollei 35 S and a Ricoh GR-1s, a
costly exchange!

It is difficult to compare these cameras because they are different types. The
T-4 is auto focus, etc. while the Rollei 35 S is manual focus and settings
with a match needle meter. The T-4 is larger than the Rollei for carry around
purposes. You have much less control with the T-4 and are totally dependent on
the automatic system.

If you don't want to mess around with controls and focusing the T-4 is the
camera to have. Another alternative in auto type is the Ricoh GR-1S that is
automatic but with greater flexibility, more sophisticated lens, if you like
28mm vs 35mm, and double the cost. This page will give you some comparison on
the GR-1S and T-4.

An intersting comments is made here:
"Rumor has it that The GR1s will soon be discontinued and replaced by the GR1v.

The GR1v is rumored to have added features that include manual focus, manual
ISO setting and auto bracketing."

I am sure other Ruggers will have additional comments.
