I hope this won't be an internecine war topic but here goes:
I finally got the insurance settlemant. My 2.8gx arrived today. It's =
impressive. It's replacing my Mamiya C330 with 105 Sekor that was =
stolen and I'm not altogether unhappy with that....Haven't shot a roll =
yet, literally unwrapped it ten minutes ago.
I can't imagine buying myself a fixed lense TLR for close to $3,000.00 =
(or whatever the price is now.) But I do like what I see and feel so =
far with this camera. =20
I'm wondering if I would be better served by selling the 2.8gx and =
getting a pristine 2.8f for less than 1/3 the price.=20
Background on me would be helpful. I'm a hobbyist. I love shooting =
with my Rollei 35's (35, 35S and 35SE) and old manual Nikon gear. I =
typically work slowly and dislike motors and automation. I appreciate =
great optics and the feel of good design and mechanical execution. =
Always wish I have a spotmeter. Like to shoot portraits, landscapes, =
found still life, natural light and some street stuff. (Also have a =
Contax G2 with which I have a love/hate relationship: Great Japanese =
design, astounding interchangeable optics, but it whirs and buzzes and =
has too many options and a lousy viewfinder...)
So, I've got to stop rambling. What does the 2.8gx offer over the 2.8f =
and ipso facto should I stay with the 2.8gx, or go to the 2.8f and spend =
the diff on film or more G lenses or an M6 with 50mm f2 or....what?
Opinions welcome!
Jeff
