Last week I had a short trip from Milano to Sardinia, passing my Rolleis and
my film through the X-ray inspection devices in two airports (Milano-Linate
and Cagliari). I carried some 400 ISO film (mostly TriX and Ektachrome 400)
and, while carrying my cameras as hand luggage (X-rayed), I left the film in
my checked luggage (I think XXX-rayed).
I was literally crying, developing them, expecting badly fogged images, but
I was surprised (and relieved!) to find no fog at all.
I don't recommend this, and I will, in the future, try to have all film hand
inspected; anyway the good news is that X-ray inspection -at least in those
airports and for film up to 400 ISO - does no harm.
Maybe I have been lucky...
