[Rollei] in re hyper sensitizing

  please allow this persons inperfect memory to contribute-
drawing on my knowledge from the medaieval time of 
photography. spelled right??
  the technique i read about was to drop rolls of film into a glass
jar where globules of mercury were at the bottom of the jar.
   the mercury was,of course, not to physically contact the rolls of
film.
   after a few days the film was hypersensitized. One problem,
supposedly was that while effective you did not know the film speed from
roll to roll and from time to time.
   i have not heard about this technique sine the late 1930`s.
