That isn't QUITE what I was trying to say. The 3.5/75 Planar will simply
blow the socks off any Tessar or Xenar lens, a fundamental element of its
vastly more sophisticated design. (The Planar is forty years newer than
the Tessar, though both, ultimately, trace their roots back to Rudolph and
Wandersleb).
There were complaints that the f/3.5 Planar wasn't all it COULD be, or the
Xenotar, either, which is why CZ and JSK produced six-element versions of
these lenses late in the life of the design.
