Hi Jerry-
Ummm... I don't think anyone claimed any differently. Please reread the
post, which explicitly states that they are "good" performers which do
not have the resolution (away from the center) of tessars (and
therefore xenotars/planars).
Perhaps you are reacting to my suggestion that they still might be nice
lenses to use for some subjects? They are! There are lots of times when
the brutally high resolution (and contrast with modern examples) of
Planars do not give the photographer or the client what they are looking
for... particularly with portraiture. It's the old "right tool for the
right job" idea.
