Hi,
I bought a 3.5 F Planar E3 camera from a local dealer.
The camera is under guarantee (fortunately).
I tried it out with 3 films and came to the following conclusions :
1. SHARP SHARP SHARP lens. Raving comments here.
2. BAD BAD transport mechanism....
If I load the camera with film, every so often the transport
mechanism blocks and I am forced to use the double-exposure
mechanism (unblock the lever) to be able to go the next frame...
so there is a problem here. I load the film as per Rollei manual
instructions. When the problem occurs, the transport handle is
completely blocked. I think if I would force it, it would just
break.
When I take out the film and use the transport handle and turn
it in normal advance direction, every full wind I feel some light
resistance at the same spot. Is this normal or has it to do
with the jamming problem ? Also, when I take out the film,
it looks like an accordeon at the place where it got stuck
(possibly because I had to do the double exposure trick).
I love the optics of this camera, but since I want a working
camera, I may have to return it. I am located in Belgium, where
there is no repair service for these cameras. Is there something
I can do to save the camera for me, or given the circumstances
should I ask for a refund ?
Another problem showed yesterday. It seems the button to make
the exposure returns very slowly to the "out" position. I have
the feeling he might get stuck in the depressed position one
day..
Thanks for any hints.
Dodi
