[Rollei] Rollei 6008i

Having pampered myself with a new set of Rollei 6008i, and used it for the
past 3 months, I must admit that I have mixed feeling about the performance
of the Rollei.

The features of the camera is second to none in the medium format arena,
and except for auto-focus, it practically possess all conceivable functions
comparable to top of the range 35mm SLR! More importantly, I am extremely
pleased with the images that jump out when viewing the tranny.

However, I am very disappointed with the use of the SCA356 adaper for TTL
flash photography. I am attributing this to the poor documentation on the
use of the SCA adapter in the User's Manual. The manual is very brief on
the use of the adapter, as well as on the TTL flash photography. The
explanation on the use of the SCA adapter is particularly disturbing. For
exapmles users were told to set to ASA 100 on the adater, without giving
adequate explanation. Being an intergral part of the 6008 system, users
will not be able to use the tools effectively and cratively without knowing
the characteristics, behaviour and the propoer function of the adapter.

Surely, some professional will tell me and indeed I had been told that TTL
flash is nothing more then a marketing gimmick, but I do missed the
conveience of the TTL fill flash capability I so enjoyed using with my
Nikon SLR.

I think Rollei owes us a duty to provide concise and comprehensive
information on the fuctioning of the SCA adapter to enable us to use the
tool effectively and cratively. Until then, every shoot I take with the
SCA 356 is an advanture!!

Let hopes that Rollei is listening.
