It is hardly 'revisionist' to state the facts.  I believe Richard Knoppow's
earlier posting pointed out the shallow lack of substance in the
photographic press of the period.

However, I believe we are all in agreement on the following:

a)  Rollei used the 2.8 Tessar in the 2.8A camera
b)  Zeiss made no other suitable f/2.8 lens at that time though CZJ had the
Biometar in the wings
c)  The lens is an adequate performer for most purposes

I'm going to consider the issue closed.  If anyone wishes to pursue this,
